So far this year, out of the 3 scheduled start times, Iowa is playing under the lights in 2 of them. Iowa wil play Syracuse in Kinnick at 7:00 (BTN), at Wisconsin at 7:05 (ABC), and then Indiana at 11:00 AM for homecoming.
Let's hope Iowa improves under the lights - they'll need to this year.

What? an 11PM kick-off? since when has that been happening?

I think Aaron meant to say that in the three announced kickoff times that Iowa would be playing under the lights in two of them.
He might have gotten a bit carried away...:D I believe that HC is an 11AM start.

I think Aaron meant that 2 out of 3 are night games, not 3 out of 3... and I still say night games scare me.

These night games will let me really experiance a football weekend. Sept. 8th I will travel to Dubuque to see UD take on Wisc. Lutheran, then I will have time to get back home and watch the Hawks vs. Syracuse. Then when the Hawks are in Wisconsin I will be able to make it up to Decorah to see the Luther/Wartburg rivalry game and once again make it back home in time to watch the Hawks.

There's always the Hawkeye Radio Network. My wife is alumni of Northwest Missouri State and every year they play their big rival Pitt State at Arrowhead in KC. Last year I had my headphones on listening to the Iowa vs. Northwestern game while people around me were wondering what the hell I was cursing at.
The good news is that a whoooooole lotta people noticed my black wind jacket with a big, gold IOWA on the chest and yelled "GO HAWKS!" and then asked how the game was going. I think that's the one time I've been truly happy to be in Missouri.

What is Iowa's record under the lights at Kinnick?

Here is my post from this thread. (http://www.hawkeyehideout.com/showthread.php?t=2001)
Iowa last won a night game September 20, 2003 vs. Arizona State. The final score was 21-2.
Night games at Kinnick:
Quote:
"Kinnick Stadium first hosted a night game against Miami, FL, on Sept. 29, 1990. Only four games have been played under the lights at Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes faced Northern Illinois in a night matchup in 1999, Iowa State in 2002 and Arizona State in 2003."
The quote is a bit old and now you would have to add the Ohio State game from last year.
9/29/90 vs. Miami - L - 48-21
9/18/99 vs. NIU - W - 24-0
9/14/02 vs. ISU - L - 36-31
9/20/03 vs. ASU - W - 21-2
9/30/06 vs. OSU - L - 38-21
So, overall the Hawkeyes are 2-3 under the lights at Kinnick.

Thanks. I thought the record was similar to ISU men's hoops when on ESPN - not good.
Should add a W early in the season and who knows about that Wisky game. I don't know who Wisky is returning, etc. So based solely on what I saw from Iowa last year and what I think we may see this year - I think they'll go 1-1 in the currently scheduled night games.
I have not been to the renovated Kinnick yet and I've never watched a game there under the lights. ISU is on the road that weekend (@ Toledo), so if I can score a ticket - I'd enjoy being in Iowa City for that game! :)

i'm looking forward to getting those indiana boys back for last year, it's a different story coming to kinnick on homecoming than playing at their 20 seat stadium. and i hope we can do better in night games, if the wisconsin game is a night one on ABC and if both teams come in undefeated that one could be on college gameday, too bad they won't be returning to Iowa City again...:(

Wow!! Now that could give rise to some serious pre-game partying.
