By my count, that's 9 Big Ten teams in the top 20. Not too shabby!

Minnesota 4th and ISU 7th...that sorta doesn't look right. Not that I am complaining.

And Nebraska 2nd....

Are Husker fans starting to jump on the wrestling bandwagon?

That's the norm for the Big Ten. It's not all that uncommon for the Big Ten to have all 11 teams ranked in the top 25. The Big Ten has dominated the rankings since the 70's.

You also have to take into account that the Big Ten is one of the only conferences to have all their teams participate. I think the ACC might as well. Also remember, there are not that many D1 wrestling programs!

It is not nearly as bad as it was ten or so years ago. There are now 95 Division I wrestling programs. That is up from the mid-70s not so long ago. The 95 number compares pretty favorably with the 119 D-I football programs.

What is sort of surprising is that there are only 44 D-II wrestling programs.

Actually, those numbers I used were a bit dated. There are approximately 90 D-I programs currently, which is still up from the low. I will try to find exact current numbers later tonight.

Wow:eek: ! Thanks for the info. I am surprised that there are so many D-I programs. I am even more surprised that there are not that many D-II schools! Do you by chance know haw many D-III schools there are?
