Wouldn't that be somethin if Mike ended up stopping by Carver to watch his son play??

I heard that Marcus is way more talented than his brother who is already in the college ranks. I would not mind having him on this team.

His brother wouldn't be playing at Illinois if it wasn't for papa Air Jordan. He's pretty short if I remember from watchin them against us last year...

Speaking of recruits, what is everyone's opinion on how much (if any) recruiting will suffer now, since they had to cancel their camp this week due to the flooding. I know there were some potential recruits who had to change their plans once it was cancelled.

I'm sure it might make some sort of an impact, but it's not like there is anything we can do about it. Any word on if Lickliter would re-schedule?

Maybe if his son joins the team, MJ would join the staff :)

No?

Good thought though.

Iowa has now offered Marcus a scholarship. In addition to Iowa he has offers from Stanford, UCF and a few others.

I'm sure we can offer the most immediate playing time.

I think this would be a good pick up if the Hawks can get him. While I don't follow Iowa Basketball nearly as closely as football I'm pretty sure this would help with recruiting and attendance. First off for recruiting I think there are several kids who would like to play infront of MJ who frequents his sons games, not only because it's MJ but because he's involved with the NBA. As for attendance, I think people would show up more often for the chance to possibly see MJ. Immediate playing time is almost guaranteed next year so I can't imagine too many high school kids who don't get the big time offers who wouldn't like to come and play immediately.

Agreed. An NBA scout tuning into EVERY SINGLE ONE of your games for 4 years? Unless they get a UNC, Kansas, Duke, UCLA, etc offer, they can't get that anywhere else (save Illinois of course)

We can certainly use a point guard right now...

according to chatter on the other Hawkeye sites. Jordan isn't going to visit Iowa.

Yea, he's moving up the sleeper lists so I think he is becoming a long shot. We have to put our money in these juco boys

Honestly, I'd rather have Cully Payne [see links elsewhere] who is visiting Iowa City today.

No April Fools. Seriously, I would.

Is there still any truth to the possibility of Jordan? I heard this yesterday morning from a mall employee that he committed to the Hawks...and I didn't believe him!

No, I believe I read somewhere that Jordan doesn't want to play in the Big Ten because he would have to play against his brother. Officially, we are still in the running, but none of the recruiting websites really consider us a serious contender for his services and he seems to be reinforcing that with his words as well.

Not going to get much attention there, but he could probably develop into a star away from the public eye and make a name for himself. Plus, they showed the most interest first.

Marcus has committed to UCF

...and on that day, there was much rejoicing at Central Florida.

I realize this is not about Jordan, but I did read that Armstead has set a date to visit Iowa, but there was some other article that said Pelham didn't know if he was going to visit or not. Has anyone heard - is Pelham no longer interested in Iowa, or what's the deal?
