Derek St. John committed a couple days ago. He will be a senior at Iowa City West this year.

Terrific news! I was 99% sure he would be a Hawk but it's always good to get the commitment. In a couple years the Hawks will be full of homegrown talent throughout the lineup. In 2010 we could have local Iowa boys in the lineup from 125-184

St John will be an absolute beast when he puts on some muscle. Even though he's long and lanky right now he's still an extremely dominant wrestler and imposes his will. I've heard he hasn't given up a take down in Iowa in 2 years. He's probably the best high school technician in the state and best on his feet right now. When he puts on 15-20lbs of muscle in college he'll be a serious title contender immediately.
